I know the audience for my topic. I need to do better identifying who will pay for it. Reply Beverly Ann on August 19, 2017 at 7:59 pm Often our target market is larger than we think and often it includes plenty of “Pay” opportunities if you know how to use them. My primary market is business, which is a great place to be but I have secondary markets in Universities and non-profits. Each requires a different approach and different speeches (a surprising amount of content is identical) but all require a clear value proposition for that market. Sometimes you speak for free and get paid for other things like books, consulting or coaching and if you have them training programs or materials. Sometimes you get paid for the speech but could sell books, consulting and other things. People are not put off by your offer to provide things for them to buy they only get put off when that is all you have to say.
